our glider was succesfull in some cases like it was very light so it floated very well but without wind power it failed but with wind it was the most succesfull

Glider Challenge: Design Phase
1) What's the challenge?- the challenge is too make a capable glider
2) Brainstorm solutions- we have an idea too create a very light weight glider so the wind can carry it.
3) Specify:- kite shaped glider made from Balsa wood and tissue paper

Glider Challenge: Test Your Prototype!
What did you learn from your test flight - I learned that you must also be aware of the outside conditions such as the weather and you must adapt your plane to the surrounding because there will not also be perfect weather for your plane.
What are your goals for your glider and how did you adjust your design in order to help it better meet them? - We added more weight so it could actually glide , since our glider was basiclly a kite and did notreally glide just kynda gently floated down.

TED Video of creating new creatures
this video/talk is very interesting itspeaks of creating new creatures.
i am very interested in this because its facinating how far along we are in technoligy and i belive it is also controvirsial.
i think it is contreversial because this technoligy wil lclash with religion because it is against the bible to play God and create new creatures.
this technoligy can also be very beneficial to man kynd and i would like to see it done

TED questions
1. The folks at IDEO state that they are not experts in any given area. But, they do claim to be experts on the__the process of design_, which they apply to the innovation of consumer products.
2. After the team of designers is brought together, told the problem, and informed they have five days to “pull it off,” what phase of the design process do they immediately engage in? brainstorming designs 3. Give two examples of what the team members did during this phase.
1)they drew information about the shopping cart and what to improve of it
2)they drew sketches and put ideas to work.
1. drew sketches
2.they went to places were they use shopping carts and thats a way to find ideas and to see what they could improve
5. List five rules-of-thumb that IDEO employees follow when they share ideas during the brainstorming phase:
a. one conversation at a time
b. stay focused
c. encourage wild ideas
d. defer judgement
e. build on the ideas of others
6. Why should wild (and sometimes crazy) ideas be entertained during the brainstorming phase?
because is a way to get ideas and it is also a way to look at a different side of things. sometimes when we act wild and crazy we tend to open our mind to a more brought thing. it helps created ideas that other people mind like.
7. After the brainstorming phase was over, the team narrowed down the hundreds of ideas by _____________ for those ideas that were not only “cool” but also _________________ in a short period of time. What phase of the design process is this called?
by voting and also buildable meaning they can do....this is call criteria and contraints because they vote and by that they know if it is going to work and by knowing that they can build it they wont have know constraints.
8. IDEO believes that the ideas and efforts of a ______________ will always be more successful than the planning of a lone genius.
trial and error or of a team
9. Once the ideas were narrowed down and divided into categories, the group was split into four smaller teams. What phase(s) of the design process was each of these groups responsible for?shopping ,safety checking it out and also what others wil look
10. The leaders at IDEO believe that ________________ behavior and a ______________ environment are two important reasons why their employees are able to think quickly and creatively to produce innovative results.
a playful behavior and a fun enviorment
11. Sometimes, people come up with great solutions that work by trying their ideas first, and asking for _________________ later.
forgiveness
12. Design is often a process of going too far and having to take a few steps back. What phase of the design process would the critique of the four mock-ups come under?
Exploring Possibilities and also to find a aproach to improvements
13. Upon critique of the four teams’ models, it was obvious that none of the teams had developed an optimum solution. However, the people at IDEO believe that it is important to _____________ often in order to _____________ sooner.
fail and succeed
14. What percentage of the entire week’s time did it take to fabricate the final prototype?
they work 2 days and a hour and although they didnt work two straight days they split the time in the five days that they had.
15. Instead of showering his design team with a tremendous amount of praise, what did the boss require his employees to do with their new design?
find out opinions and by knowing what they can improve in their project.
16. Of all the things that we are surrounded by every day, what has not been placed through the design process?
well everything has gone through design even nature now a days we try to even make it how we want to and one thing that i could say that they dont design is a baby but i dont know if that conserns with this.
1. What did you find to be the most impressive part of the team’s effort?
they were able to stay on task even if they know that it took a long time to do it and the other thing that impress me was that they were able to put all their ideas together and sometimes that is hard.another thing that impress me was that they all work together unlike in some teams only one person those all the work and that is wrong.
2. What advantages are there to having a design team with members that have non-engineering backgrounds?
they are able to bring different ideas and they are able to put their perspective of a consumer unlike a engineering their ideas only pertains of makin g something work unlike a non engineering they want something that works and also something that will look kool and that they can use all the time.
3. There was a point in the process where a self-appointed group of adults stepped up, stopped the ideas, and redirected the group to break up into teams. Why was this done?
to be able to get more ideans and to make the process work faster .this is also a way to work ideas down because each team can work one idea .
4. At the end of the video, Dave Kelly states, “Look around. The only things that are not designed are the things we find in nature.” Can you think of anything that would contradict this statement?
well now they clon nature meaning that they take their blood and make copies of a animal and they do things to plan to make them grow a certain way / fruits they put things to make them grow bigger or faster.
